It must be based on actual, practical, and experiential application of knowledge and acquisition of wisdom. One inspirational speaker can’t teach you to do a certain if he or she has known his or her content only through paper and desktop research.
• Credibility. A quick search on the reputation of your motivational speaker will come handy. Who is he or she to give us a motivational speech? What has he or she accomplished? Who are the people and organization he or she has an exposure with? What recognition does he or she has to merit my time and effort to get to him or her? Again, some seemingly accomplished personalities doesn’t automatically mean they are capable of speaking effectively. You have to get to know the credibility of your motivational speaker.
• Professionalism. Not all people can conduct themselves proficiently and competently on stage. In fact, many speakers today only have the confidence but not substantial contents. That’s why you’ve got to get a Public Speaking Fellow or PSF® in the first place. Does he or she has a professional practice in the area of public speaking? Who are the people who may vouch for his professionalism? Does he or she do it using a certain methodology, process, or framework? If the answer is no, then you might want to think again before hiring such a motivational speaker.
